Bio

Novella Gianfranceschi is a freelance professional journalist born in 1995. She holds a degree in Biodiversity and Biological Evolution from the University of Milan and a postgraduate specialization in journalism from the “Walter Tobagi” School.

She mainly covers environmental issues and the climate crisis. She collaborates with several publications, including Domani, Il ManifestoLinkiesta, IrpiMedia, Altraeconomia, Scienza in rete, and L’Espresso. She reported from the United Nations Climate Conferences in 2025 (COP30), 2024 (COP29), and 2023 (COP28). She produces and edits Aria stampa, a daily news podcast focused on climate and environmental topics. She currently also works in the communications office of the Italian Speleological Society.

In 2025, she was awarded the Riccardo Laganà Prize for public service and environmental journalism for her video investigation The Route of the Mangroves, broadcast on Rai.

Before pursuing a career in journalism, she worked for the Casentinesi Forests National Park and as a science communicator at the Science Museum in Trieste.
